Water
Drinking water is important, but you probably know that already. Avoiding liquid calories is a great idea too. Again…nothing new. If you are one of those people who always has drinks with added sugar, artifical sweetners, and other calories, then it is time for change. What else can you do to elimnate those from your lifestyle? I love add a drop of essential oil to my water. It adds taste and other health benefits. Other than that, will setting reminders on your phone help? Have you tried filling up a big water bottle and sipping from it? When we commit to solutions we find the answer. When we commit to problems, we make more problems

Protein
Protein is an essential macronutrient. Protein is made up of amino acids. Due to different digestive processes, your body breaks these proteins down into amino acids to be used not only for muscles, but for your tissues, ligaments, cartilidge, and other organ systems. The most efficient and abundant source for protein is through animal sources. With that said, some people do not feel like that is choice for a myriad of reasons. It is still important to find good protein sources that fit your choices and values. Lets connect and figure out what will be best for you to be the best version of yourself!

Vegetables
Vegetables can be a great addition to your lifestyle. We are all different, which means what one person eats might not work well for another person. Certain types of plants and have certain parts or chemicals that can be hard to breakdown in the digestive tract. Nightshade vegetables such as tomatoes and eggplant could trigger inflammation, which is why some indivduals feel great not eating them. Some people, however, eat nightshade vegetables all the time and feel great. I personally love nightshade veggies and eat them without negative consequences. Our goal in working together is to help you know for sure what vegetables digest well for you and which ones won’t . Send me a message and we can schedule a time to do a consultation.

Fruit
Fruit has been under attack in recent years. Low carb zealots often demonize them. Fruits can be a great source of vitamins, minerals, and phytonutrients. If it is local and organic, that would be better, especially for the preservation of enzymes. With that said, I believe there is a credible argument to consider that maybe we are not meant to eat fruit all year long. Being mindful of what is in season could not only be great for the environment, but good for you as well. At the end of the day, fruits can be good and bad. They are a tool, so use them wisely.

Starches and Grains
Starches and grains can help you get fiber and B vitamins. Depending on the grain, you might get a little protein as well. Conversly, you could also be getting phytic acid and other anti nutrients that your body struggles to break down. Personally, I feel a lot better when I do not eat gluten. I will still eat bread, and when I do it will be the best quality bread I could possibly eat. There is a lot of genetically modified wheat that I recommend avoiding. You might feel amazing eating organic bread, grains, and starches on a regular basis. I will cycle different starches and root vegetables as I go in and out of Ketosis. This may or may not be for you, so be your own scientist. If you do not know where to start, don’t worry, lets schedule a call and develop a plan to help you feel epic!

Fats
It has finally been well communicated to the public that fats are an essential nutrient. Having a variety of plant and animal fats in your diet will help your hormones and other processes in your body. Incorporating these from multiple sources will help you to thrive and feel epic. It is important to note that you should be incorpating good quality fats. Processed cheese, for example, would not be considered a healthy fat. Avocados, olive oil, coconut, grass fed and grass finished meat, etc…
Personally, I love applying Ketogenic concepts into my lifestyle, but I also take breaks and apply other principles. Make sure you subscribe and send me a message and I will be happy to share what works for me and figure out what will be the best fit for you.
